The affair of detainees in Spain languishing in jail after being arrested for involvement in a drug courier, continues to stir the Haredi public.

This morning (Tuesday), activist Yeedle Yakab, one of the staff members who handled the case of detainees in Japan along with Hahid"o Weiss, attorney Mordechai Zivin, and activists Aharon Nizri and Elimelech Bindiger – left for Spain.

"I am in Barcelona," said Yakab special conversation with Behadrey Haredim, "each dealing with this issue bothers the detainees and I ask the media to get off the case, "blessing is only found in what is hidden from view". Among others, I went to explore the possibility that a team headed by Dayan Hahid"o Weiss who successfully treated the Japan case, will enlist to help here."

Yakab further added: "I went on a mission for Hhid"o Weiss and under the directing of Attorney Mordechai Zivin who to our sorrow unfortunately refused to handle the case because of other matters in Spain which preceded the present case, and which can be harmful for treatment purposes in Spain."

Yakab then adds relating to Zivin: "To our request, Zivin agreed to consult, and advises us how to operate in Spain and among others opens doors for us there with all that this entails, on a voluntary basis."

• How are the prisoners?
"I can not answer the question. I can only say that the situation is not good."

• How long will you stay there?
"I do not know how long, I just pray that with G-d 's help and with the help of Hahid"o and attorney Mordechai Zivin, all be solved, one must just have patience, in Japan there were people who had no patience and thought that everything works quickly, one should wait and everything will be solved."

Attorney Mordechai Zivin refused the request of Behadrey Haredim to relate to the matter of the affair, all he would say was, "I am not handling the case, the boys in Spain are in trouble."

Zivin clarified that although he was not assigned the case, "as a person and as a Jew it is impossible to stand by as a Jew is in trouble. That is why I agreed to guide the activists how to handle it and to which factors they should turn. Everything is from my experience and my personal familiarity with the appropriate parties who have proven in the past that they can help."

Despite all the references to Zivin, he refuses to accept the representation of detainees.

According to information obtained by Behadrey Haredim, Spanish police suspect that the two are partners in an international drug distribution network in Europe which is based in Israel.

It is suspected that the network operators are taking advantage of innocent poor people and employ them as salespeople and couriers of cellular phones and other means of communication. The network people send with their couriers luggage which can not be opened, which contain, according to them, cellular phones and electronics, but actually contain drugs.

If the detainees will be tried and convicted their punishment is between three and five and a half years. However, according to the procedure in Spain, with imprisonment under six years, one can expel a foreign citizen who was convicted to his homeland without having to serve his sentence in prison.
