Netanyahu was invited to write the first letter in the Torah scroll for the Chabad House in Tokyo • Chabadnikim provided kosher food at formal meetings

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu wrote a letter in a Torah scroll to be brought into the shull in Tokyo.

Rabbi Mendy and Chana Sudkewitz, heads the Chabad community in Tokyo, and Rabbi Shmuel Vishetsky, head of the Cuban community, were invited to a personal meeting with Binyamin Netanyahu, who is visiting the country these days.

During the meeting, the prime minister wrote the letter "Beis" and the letter "Shin" from "Bereishis" for his merit and his wife's in a Torah scroll which will enter the Chabad synagogue in Tokyo.

Before the writing, Rabbi Mendy explained the importance of the commandment to write a Sefer Torah and participation in the writing, and the meaning of starting the Torah with the letter "Beis" especially for him.

Netanyahu told of his meetings with heads of state in Japan, about his meetings with the late Lubavitcher Rebbe zt"l.

When asked by one of the participants, what motivates him and gives him the power to lead the government of Israel and the whole world with Jewish pride, the Prime Minister replied: "The power comes from all the Jews in whose mission I go - and I always remember what the Rebbe told me that this light rejects all the darkness in the world."

Chabad House provided kosher food for Netanyahu's formal meetings including the meeting at the Japanese Prime Minister.

Kosher food was also supplied to all members of the delegation and the many security personnel who arrived in an operation successfully conducted by Rabbi Shmuel Vishetsky.
