13-year-old Orthodox girl riding a bike, was hit by a vehicle in West Hempstead, Long Island in New York State, and killed.

Local police told website jpupdates that on Wednesday nights at 3:03 the girl was found lying on the road when she lost consciousness, and a motorcycle on the other side of the road, an ambulance took her to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The girl has been identified as a daughter of the Har Torah yeshiva community on Long Island - New York.

According to county detectives, the girl rode on a bike south to Park Avenue and tried to cross the Eagle Boulevard, where she was hit by a 2002 Cadillac vehicle driven by a 24-year-old woman driving west on Eagle Avenue.

The police confiscated the vehicle for brake testing and safety but at this stage excluded suspicion that driver did not act according to the law.

The funeral was held today (Thursday) at 13:00 at the Anshei Shalom community on 472 Avenue Wempstead.
