Difficult Shabbos passed on the residents of Williamsburg; an elderly 83-year-old Orthodox neighborhood resident was attacked on Friday night and was beaten till he bled.
The incident occurred on Taylor Street, late at night when the old man returned home on Friday night from relatives. Two women of African American descent attacked the old man who was beaten and kicked until he fell to the ground bleeding, while they cursed the Jews. Neighbors who heard the screams rushed to call the police and rescue volunteers and guards.
Old man who suffered minor injuries was transferred by ambulance to a nearby hospital; volunteer guards rushed in pursuit of women and caught them in the street not far from the attack. Police arrested the two women. Volunteers gathered video cameras from security cameras in the event, which police took to continue investigations. Assault incident comes after a week of anti-Semitic attacks which occurred against children Williamsburg last week.
On Saturday night, a tragedy occurred in the neighborhood as a young 34 year old father of children fell from the roof of his home and was killed. Incident occurred on Saturday night at 11 pm in the building on the street corner of Theodore Braden. Drives rescue organization arrived they found the young scholar without a pulse and breathing and tried to perform CPR, but to no avail. Delicate circumstances are reviewed; police and Chesed Shel Emes arrived. Neighborhood activists in collaboration with the leaders of Chesed Shel Emes prevented desecration of the dead.
