Deputy Minister Ophir Akonis arrived in New York for Gimel Tamuz events, put on tefillin in the room of the Rebbe zt"l and visited the library

This afternoon (Monday), began the visit of the representative of the Israeli government to the Gimel Tamuz events in New York, vice minister in charge of coordinating government and the Knesset Ophir Akonis - arrived at the Chabad House - 770.
After his participation in the JLI conference, Akonis arrived at the Crown Heights neighborhood and toured the broadcasting room and entrance to the house, while he was being briefed by Chabad spokesman Rabbi Menachem Brod and the Shamash head of broadcasting array, R' Chaim Baruch Halberstam.
An exciting moment was when he entered the Rebbe's room which was opened for him, where he put on tefillin and prayed silently.
Akonis took an impressive visit to the Rebbe's library, where he was greeted by the Library Director Rabbi Berel Levin, who presented a fascinating new exhibition currently on display.
Akonis came as a guest of the Association of Chabad Chassidim in Israel led by Rabbi Aharonov and in recent days a timetable was carefully constructed for the visit, in coordination with the Secretary-General of Chabad Ariel Lemberg and members of the Prime Minister's office. The following days are expected to join seniors of the Israeli consulate in New York later in the visit.
