Charedim Lend their support for Weak Municipalities
Chairman of the forum of Charedi municipalities, Meir Rubenstein announced his support in the struggle for fair allocation of funding among the Israel's municipalities.

Beitar Illit Mayor, Meir Rubenstein joined the protest of dozens of heads of municipalities from all over the country over the unfair allocation of funding for education and social services. Yediot Aharonot has reported that a march will be held today as part of the protest.
Heads of the municipalities demand a differential allocation of funding because the way it is done today just increases the gap between different municipalities. The smaller community councils are demanding an increase in funding at the expense of the large, well established communities.
For example funding for high schools today is standard based on the number of high school students, a fact that allows larger well established municipalities to invest more into their schools, while smaller schools struggle just to remain open.
Meir Rubenstein told Bechadrey Charedim this morning, "The current budgeting tactic is absurd and intolerable. It isn't possible that municipalities that are well off socioeconomically should be receiving the lion's share of all the funding at the expense of the weaker municipalities that desperately need the funding. The budgeting should be matched to the actual needs of the communities."
The heads of the municipalities began their march this morning from the Southern city of Yerucham, from therr they went to Sagav Shalom in Kiryat Gat and then to Kiryat Malachi and Beit Shemesh. Next week they will go to Yerushalyaim where they will pitch a protest tent opposite the office of the treasury.
