Over 300 People Have Died in Attacks this Ramadan

It has been reported that more than 160 people died in Sunday's attack in Baghdad, which was just one of eight different attacks thought to be perpetrated by ISIS during the Muslim month of Ramadan. Israel also experienced a surge in terror attacks during Ramadan in which 6 Israelis were ruthlessly murdered including 13 year old Hallal Yaffa Ariel and Michael Mark.

According to a BBC article written by Shiraz Maher, Muslims view Ramadan as the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, a time for penance and spirituality. They believe that G-d is mot forgiving during this time.

Islamic radicals regard Ramadan as a month of conquest and plunder. They think it's a great time to beef up their war against civilization. The Nursa Front described it as "a month of conquests."

ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani told his supporters around the world," Get prepared, be ready to make it a month of calamity everywhere for the non-believers…especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America."

Monday's attack by ISIS suicide bombers outside the Mosque of Muhammad's tomb in Medina was particularly shocking to the Islamic world. As opposed to other Islamic groups ISIS believes that Muhammad's mosque is a shrine and therefore a distraction from worship of G-d. They believe the site should be destroyed.

This kind of thinking fuels the belief that jihad is an act of worship . Abdullah Azzam, "the godfather of modern jihad" said that that "neglecting jihad is like abandoning fasting and praying." He later wrote ,"jihad is the most excellent from of worship, and by its means the Muslim can reach the highest ranks [of paradise].
