I Fought the Waves to save him

25 year old Yisrael Vaknin 25 died yesterday after a family outing turned tragic in Chadera. He left behind a young wife and baby.

His father in law Dovid Biton recounts the harrowing events yesterday in an interview with Bechadrey.

"We went out for a fun day at the sea. We barbequed, ate and laughed. Then they went for a swim. Suddenly my wife realized that they were being drawn out to sea.

"I undressed and hurried out to them. I had to fight against the waves with all my strength. When I got to them I put my son on my shoulder and got him out of the water. I threw my son in law Michael Suissa into the air ahead and the waves spat him out. B"H he is now conscious. But my son in law Yisrael was hard to rescue. I fought the current until I extracted him. He didn't make it.

The day before we celebrated Yisrael's birthday. Before Yisreal entered the water he sat and ate with us. We laughed together. Everything was just normal. I can't believe he's gone. "
