Ethics Committee Dismisses Reform’s Complaints against Charedi MKs
Committee did sensor the MKs’ leaving the floor while Reform rep spoke, but dismissed accusations against them

On Tuesday, the Knesset Ethics Committee deliberated on a complaint made by representatives of the Reform against the chareidi Knesset Members for their ceremonious exit from the plenum during a deliberation on the mikvaos. The complaint said that the fact that the MKs left the plenum without hearing their words was hurtful, unworthy and against the rules of democracy. The MKs responded by telling the Ethics Committee that they declare that they act according to the words of the Torah leaders of the generation and are their representatives.
In response to the complaint, MK Yaacov told the Ethics Committee that his leaving the room during the deliberation was a natural reaction to his feelings of distaste at hearing that person and his cohorts who try to instill their distorted views into all ranks of society, especially among those who are not Torah-observant. They clothe their goods in key words like freedom, equality, progress and the like. . .all with the goal of obscuring Jewish tradition and halacha observed from generation to generation. And along with their spiritual war, they are trying with all their might to declare war on an entire group of people, up to and including economic harm. That this man’s name is signed on hundreds of petitions and claims against one group in a war whose purpose is to leave children whose only sin is learning Torah hungry; he battles against the Talmudei Torah, yeshivah budgets, Kollel funding, guaranteed income for avreichim, and they know that Torah and its learners are a fortified wall as opposed to the blurring of Jewish tradition.
