The Olam Hayeshivos is mourning the petira of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Finkel zatzal, Rosh Yeshiva of Mir Brachfeld and a member of Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Degel Hatorah at the age of 85.
Reb’ Aryeh collapsed last night in his house in Modi'in Illit. Rescue teams were called and carried out a lengthy resuscitation, but he was nifter shortly after.
The levaya will begin at 11:00 on Wednesday, 6 Menachem av at Yeshivas Mir Brachfeld, through Mir yeshiva in Yerushalayim and kvura will be in Har Hamenuchos.
The rosh yeshiva’s health deteriorated in the past year and he was hospitalized several times. Mir yeshiva talmidim gathered in Yerushalayim and Brachfeld to daven, but as mentioned, he returned his neshama and was niftar.

Rabbi Aryeh Finkel zt”l was Born on י"ד אב תרצ"א. His father Rabbi Chaim Zev Finkel the menahel of the Mir Yeshiva and grandson of "Saba Mislabodka". His mother, Mrs. Leah a”h, was the granddaughter of Rabbi Chaim Sonnenfeld zatzal"
As young man he learnt in Slabodka and punivez’, and married Rebbetzin Esther Gittel, the daughter of Rav Shmuel Aharon Yudelewitz.
After his marriage he learned the Mir Yeshiva Kollel, and later was appointed to be magid shiur and mashgiach.
When Mir Yeshiva was founded in Modi'in Illit he became the Rosh Yeshiva in addition do his part as a member of Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Degel Hatorah.
Rav Aryeh left his son Rav Binyamin Finkel, Mashgiach in yeshivas "Mishkan Yisroel" and daughter Leah Meisel, journalist and satirist.
Rav Aryeh was a gadol baTorah who impacted generations of bnei Torah. He left thousands of talmidim and admirers mourning their great rosh yeshiva and leader.
