MK Herzog at the Shiva by the Finkel family

Opposition leader and chairman of "Hamachane Hatzioni", Yitzchak Herzog arrived today (Monday) to the nichum aveilim of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Finkel zt"l, Rosh Yeshiva of Mir - Brachfeld.

Herzog expressed his condolences and noted the importance of learning Torah to the people of Israel and the loss to the Jewish world with the passing of Rav Finkel, who spent a lifetime spreading Torah to future generations.

Rabbi Benyamin Finkel said to Herzog as he entered: "You are known as someone who respects the world of Torah and appreciates it, you've done a lot for a world of Torah." Further, Rav Finkel's sons told Herzog that his grandfather has arranged Kiddushin for their father zt"l and that Rav Finkel had much respect for the Herzog family as he used to say that the two sons of Rabbi Herzog zt"l, Chief Rabbi of Israel, Chaim and Yaakov, are in two central positions in leading the country, one in government and the other in the army.






Herzog said that someone who sees the importance of Torah learning knows the importance of preserving the Torah world. "Mir Yeshiva" was always an important part of the Yeshiva world and that the Mir Yeshiva that started in Shanghai continues to be one of the most important places of Torah to Klal Yisroel." Herzog said he visited Shanghai and saw the place of the Mir Yeshiva. He concluded by saying that "the Rosh Hayeshiva's death leaves a void in the Torah world. I have no doubt that his sons and followers to fill it with dedication and commitment, just as he wanted and that all his life."

Reb' Benyamin Finkel invited Herzog visit the Mir Yeshiva and witness the prosperity of the Torah world, he accepted the invitation.
