Three weeks after the arrest of Bnei Brak resident covered in length by B’Chadrei Charedim, the prosecution of the Southern District submitted a bill of indictment against Moshe Klein for smuggling approximately 7 kilos of cocaine from Amsterdam to Israel for a 40,000 NIS profit. Two other Haredim who were arrested on account of this case, among them a 25-year-old woman from Beitar Illit- were released under restrictions.

The indictment states that Klein was in touch with Garman Resnick (55) from Bnei Ayish and the two agreed that Klein would fly to Europe and would return with a suitcase carrying drugs.

Around three weeks ago, Moshe Klein left Israel with his friend Shalom Rokach. The two flew to London and stayed in a hotel. From there they flew together to Amsterdam and later that day Garman told Klein through WhatsApp that he would send the drugs through other people. Later that day, Klein met with the contact in Amsterdam, who introduced himself as “Yossi”. He accepted a large black suitcase with a double lining, hiding 10 silver colored plastic wrapped packages containing about 6.900 kilos of cocaine and returned to the hotel with the suitcase. On Saturday, Garman told Klein that he booked flights for Rokach and himself from Brussels to Israel.

In that conversation, Klein was instructed that when he lands at Ben Gurion Airport the next day, Sunday, a car will be waiting to take him and the suitcase, and he will deliver the drugs. As planned, Sunday at 10:34 P.M. Klein and Rokach landed in Ben Gurion. Klein collected the suitcase with drugs, walked toward the arrivals exit- but then the Southern Central Unit and the 747 investigation unit who's designated specifically for catching messengers and interception of drug deliveries from outside abroad.

Klein admitted in the police investigation that he delivered the suitcase and accepted it from Garman. He suspected it might contain drugs, but he thought it contained diamonds. Likewise, Klein’s spontaneously said (and it is caught on video) that he thought the suitcase held materials that weighed about 4 kilos, while in his investigation he denied knowledge of the contents of the suitcase and its weight.

Attorney Nir Yeslovitch, Klein’s lawyer, told B’Hadrei Haredim that the defense denies all charges against Moshe Klein and insists that “This is a matter of a naïve messenger who was not aware of the contents of the suitcase”. He adds, that the defense is sure that the court will come to the conclusion that his client was not aware that the suitcase's content.

The prosecution asked to lengthen his imprisonment until the end of the proceedings. Klein's detention was lengthened in the Lod County court until further notice, the response to the bill of indictment is set for the 06/10/2016.

As part of the investigation, a Beitar woman of 25 years who had flown with him 6 months ago to Amsterdam has been arrested but was discharged for lack of evidence. In addition, Shalom Rokach from Bnei Brak who delivered the suitcase with him was also arrested and was released last week after there were no drugs found in his possession. His lawyer, Attorney Limor Roth-Chazzan, told B’Hadrei that “My client does not have any connection to Klein's activities whatever they may be. My clients' release proves more than anything that the suspicions against him were mistaken and that he doesn’t and never had a part in committing crimes.”
