Bus Collides with Jerusalem light rail
first time ever: Light rail pushed off tracks after colliding with a bus, B’’H no injuries

An unusual accident occurred this morning in Yerushalayim. As the light rail train headed out of the Givat Hamivtar station it was rammed of the tracks by an oncoming bus. Baruch Hashen there were no injuries.
According to preliminary reports that reached “Bechadrei Chareidim” the accident seemed to be the result of an oncoming bus that crashed into the train as it was heading south. Although there was a strong impact that knocked the train off the tracks, there were Baruch Hashem no injuries reported. Traffic police were on the scene directing traffic on Rechov Shesht Hayomim that was most effected by the accident.
It’s worth to note that a traffic accident involving the light rail is very rare, the last time it happened was during last year’s snowfall.
“Citipass” (equivalent to MTA) the company that administers the light rail, put out a statement saying “due to a traffic accident at the French hill involving the light rail and a bus, service will be partially suspended along some of the stations. Citipass is doing whatever it could to restore proper service as soon as possible”
In another traffic accident Monday morning, a young Yeshivah bocher was struck by a car on Golda Meir Blvd. in Yerushalayim. Hatsalah volunteers that arrived on the scene treated the boy for his injuries and then rushed him to Sharei Tsedek trauma center, listed in moderate condition.
Eli Rappaport a Hatsalah volunteer who arrived on the scene said, “when I arrived I found a young boy about thirteen years old that was hit by a car, the boy was laying in the shrubs at the side of the road. He was suffering from injuries on the bottom part of his body. Together with MDA we administered medical care, then transferred him to Sharrei Tseddek Trauma center, listed in moderate condition.
