Winter tragedy: Driver Trapped in Car Passes Away
Heavy rains this morning caused flooding in a Haifa Tunnel, resulting in a death; Ichud Hatsalah volunteers extracted the driver and transported him to Rambam Hospital where he was pronounced dead

Wintery weather brought strong rains to Israel this morning(Tuesday). The rains caused severe flooding in a Haifa tunnel, resulting in drivers being stranded for hours waiting for rescue services to rescue them.
Unfortunately, one driver who was stranded in the flood, after his car sunk, was rescued in critical condition and later passed away in the hospital.
The incident took place 9:00 in the morning on rechov chalutsei hatasiya, in Haifa. After extraditing the driver, rescue workers proceeded to perform lifesaving treatment. The rescue workers later transferred him to Rambam hospital in Haifa where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was discovered by the authorities while they were pumping water out of the tunnel. Weather forecasts are predicting more heavy rains in the coming days, keeping it safe- authorities have closed the crossing to traffic until further notice.
Liran Crispin, an Ichud Hatsalah volunteer, said: "When I arrived on the scene, I found the driver still trapped inside the car, which was stuck in the mud. The driver was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. I started administrating CPR and contacted the dispatcher notifying him of the situation and requesting backup”.
Rambam Medical Center released a statement saying that a 74 year-old man was transferred to the hospital after being found in his car unconscious. He arrived while rescue workers were still performing CPR and with a low a body temperature. Doctors worked on saving the patient but were unfortunately forced to pronounce him dead.
Earlier today rescue worker rescued a women, whose car was stranded in a flood. The women climbed onto the roof of her car and was B’’H rescued.
