BD”H: Founder Of Artscroll/Mesorah to Be Buried In Israel

The a’ron of the founder of the Schotenstien Shas edition, harav hagaon R’ Meir Zlotowitz zt’’l, will be arriving for burial in Israel today (Monday). R’ Zlotowitz was also the CEO and founder of Mesorah/Artscroll publications, which has produced thousands of books and seforim throughout the years.

As was earlier reported on “Bechadrei Chareidim”, the deceased was close to the Gedolei Hador and was a frequent visitor to their homes. He was a talimd muvhak of the posek hador in America, hagaon R’ Moishe Feinstein Zt”l.

The deceased founded the Schotenestien shas foundation, through which he opened the gates to the light of Torah to thousands of Jews worldwide. Together with his father he also established the world wide ‘Mifal Hashas’ organization.

Through his dedicated work for limud Hatrah he promoted mass Toarh learning, and made learning beloved by Jews all over.

Through his life’s project, the Schotenstein edition, he succeeded in rooting in Torah learning in every Jewish home in Israel and around the world.

Gedolei Yisroel also delved into the many books that Artscroll has published.

Aside from his publications being well received, many consider his great contribution of the Schotenstein edition, as one of the most significant and revolutionary contributions to Jewish literate in the 20th century.

The cost of the publication and distribution of the 73 volumes is estimated at 21 million dollars, partially funded by donations.

His a’ron will arrive today from the U.S. on a special flight, and the levayaa will leave from the ‘Eretz Hachayim’ bais Hachayim in Bet Shemesh where he will be buried.
