Russia plans to disconnect Crimea

Tensions between Russia and Ukraine increases: Russians confirmed a new project of a bridge connecting the peninsula directly to Russia

Russia plans to disconnect Crimea

Two Years Since the bloody revolution at the Maidan Square in Kiev, which led to the replacement of the pro-Russian rule and impeachment of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. Today (Monday) the General Directorate of Russian published the grandiose project to build a bridge over the Straits of Kerch in the Black Sea, which is supposed to link the Russian soil to Crimea, occupied in March 2014 by Russia.

The approved new project budget is $ 2.8 billion, $ 9 million less than previously estimated.

The bridge, which will run about 19 kilometers, is expected to be built in 2018. The bridge is to bear the transportation roads, railways, gas pipelines, electricity and telephone.

Russia has decided to build the bridge since Crimea relies on Ukrainian companies that supply the electrical needs and energy to the Peninsula, over the past year power supply to the peninsula has been disconnected several times as a result of explosions in the power line leading the power supply to the peninsula, by extremist Ukrainians who some say were by the current government in Kiev.

In addition there were many disruptions of gas supply, telephone lines and other basic infrastructure, two months ago even hospitals were cut off from electricity for a few days. All this led Russia to reach a dramatic decision which will cut off Crimea from Ukraine in absolute terms.

Ukraine continues to work intensively in the world and in Western Europe and the US in particular, to try to return the Peninsula to it with its three million inhabitants, but it is clear that the chances are negligible, especially after the recent decision to link Russia to the peninsula. Especially in light of the servile nature of Europe and the United States regarding foreign affairs and especially for Russian affairs.

Russia sees Crimea as Russian territory and a particularly strategic, military and civilian area, which control of the Black Sea, and in the opinion of analysts will never return control of the peninsula to Ukraine, even at the price of isolation from the rest of the world.

Since the beginning of the revolution two years ago, Ukraine is in a state of war in the eastern region of Donetsk and Lugansk, and despite the fact that several ceasefire agreements were signed, nothing will stop the fighting in the area, just today it was reported of the intensification of fighting in the area - during which one Ukrainian soldier was killed and a few soldiers were wounded.

Today there were two rallies in Ukraine to mark the revolution, during which the Ukrainians attacked Russian-owned banks, which are located in Kiev.
