Baruch Dayan Hemes: On Shabbos afternoon at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer hospital, Hrh"ch Reb Yitzchak Gottesman passed away. He was an elder and important of the Gur Hasidim.
Reb Itche was born in Vienna, Austria in תרפ"ג, his father was Hrh"ch Rabbi Naftali – a grandson and great grandson of Rebbe, the 'Sar Shalom' of, Belze and son in law of Rabbi Avraham Binyamin Av Beit Din of Pittsburgh zt"l.
He was an only child, and it has been told that he was born following the blessing of the Belzer Rebbe zt"l since his mother would bake the Rebbe's challos for Shabbos, and as gratitude he promised her a son.
During the Holocaust, he immigrated with his family to Canada -, where he married, and then moved to Borough Park in Brooklyn - where he established a wonderful family. In תשס"ח he moved to Israel and lived in Bnei Brak.
He was a regular member of the Ger shul on Rashi Street, and had a special relationship with the Gerrer Rebbe's. Every year he would purchase the Yonah maftir in the Beit Midrash in Jerusalem, due to his father's yahrzeit which falls on Yom Kippur.
An interesting story happened to the deceased with the Rebbe the Beis Yisrael who was very fond of him, it was two weeks before the death of the Beis Yisrael, Rabbi Itche visited his Rebbe then, and before leaving his room the Rebbe told him "Ask me for anything you want, Reb Itche replied without hesitation, that I'll merit to see the Rebbe again in good health, after he left the house, he heard someone yelling behind him his name, when Reb Itche turned he saw the Beis Yisrael standing at the door and said, "Here, you saw me." it was of course the last time he saw his Rebbe.
He left behind him hundreds of descendants walking in his ways, and lived to see the fifth generation, his sons are: Rabbi Yosef Shimon from England, Rabbi Menachem from Borough Park and Rabbi Chaim, a R"m at the Yeshiva Lomdei Torah Machnovka in Bnei Brak.
His son in laws is: Rabbi Avraham Shafran Bnei Brak, Rabbi Moshe Gubiof Av Beit Din of Monsey, Rabbi Akiva Simcha from Monsey, and Rabbi Gershon Shapiro from Monsey.
The funeral will leave tonight (Motzei Shabbos) at 20:00 from his home on Eliyahu Street in Bnei Brak on its way to the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem - where he will be laid to rest.
