Nighttime Mission: Family Of 18 Rescued After Being Stranded For 6 Hours

The ‘Galil Karmel’ rescue unit and Israel police successfully rescued a family of 18 last night, after being stranded in the mount Meron region for 6 hours.

At about 4:00 PM (Israel time) yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), the ‘Galil Karmel’ rescue unit was contacted by the ‘nature and park reserve’ who reported that a family of 18, with children ranging from 17, to 8 months old, lost their way in the ‘Nachal Amud’ nature reserve located in the upper Gallil.

According to reports, the family consisted of 16 children and 2 parents, who lost their way trying to make it Meron, after being directed by a friend over the phone.
After realizing that they were in lost, the family contacted the police and reported their predicament. Upon receiving the call, police immediately contacted the ‘Nature and Park reserve’ who coached the family over the phone, and dispatched a search party to locate them.

Despite night already falling, B”H the rescue workers were able to reach the family and successfully extract them.

Rescue personnel first provided the family members with water and flashlights, and then guided them out of the ‘Nachal Amud’ nature reserve’, while one of the rescue workers carried the 8-month-old baby in his arms.

B”H, at 10:00 PM the family emerged from the reserve all sound and well.
Despite the successful night mission rescue, the workers were not done for the night. They were immediately dispatched to search for a missing 13-year-old, and 25-year-old, who were reported missing after going for a hike near Meron.
