Haredi businessman Yaakov Ostreicher from Borough Park, who was arrested in Bolivia due to the trade in rice fields, who was released after 14 months in detention to house arrest for an indefinite period - is in danger again.

A week ago security that was linked to him since he was released to house arrest was removed and is now in mortal danger on the part of the Bolivian mafia factors, which wants to eliminate the fear of testifying against them.

Ostreicher himself said this yesterday in a telephone interview he gave to Dov Hikind, an assemblyman in New York, on the Jewish radio talk show in New York. He said last Wednesday a court hearing was held in which he participated along with 14 senior government officials detained in the affair. "It was the first time I met them since the affair exploded, everyone, without exception, including the Attorney General, approached me, apologized and said they only carried out orders from above.

Ostreicher also said that one of the judges involved in the case visited his home in the evening and told him about the course of events. "He told me about seventeen people accused of involvement in the case, and released on bail, besides the 14 senior government officials sitting in jail because of the affair, people were laid off in senior positions in government that were involved in the affair. During the three hours I heard from him about the corruption of the government and the judiciary, showed him boxes of letters of support I get from a lot of people in Bolivia, and in the end I asked him why they did not release me? His answer was clear and decisive, they are afraid to let you go because if they release you they will have to give a lot of answers about what happened."

Ostreicher also said: "The security given to me since I was under house arrest was intended to protect my life from all special-interest who want to kill me; a week ago I noticed that security is gone. A guard guarding me since I was released, and even made friends with him – didn’t even say goodbye. Even my lawyers were not given an explanation, even though they themselves had death threats. I turned to the U.S. government and told them about the danger of to my life, but for now nothing is done."
