Journey of Purity: Satmar Rebbe inaugurated three mikvehs

During a whirlwind journey of 27 hours held by the Satmar Rebbe, were inaugurated and construction began of no less than three different mikvehs.

It happened this week in the U.S. The Rebbe came to two camping's in the Catskill Mountains - Beis Rachel and Rav Tov belonging to the chassidus, where preparations are being held for the July-August holiday period - to pour the new cement in the mikvehs which are being established there.

While the holiday camp, Rav Tov is for boys and men from Satmar, staying at the site for the vacation period, Beis Rachel is intended for the girls of the chassidus. However, since teachers and teaching staff and educational live there throughout the period, a mikveh is required for the owner and their sons. Wherever the Rebbe went, he poured the cement, held a lechaim and spoke words of Torah.

Hence, the Rebbe went out to Williamsburg in the presence of rabbis and community dayanim, leaders and governors of the chassidus, to prepare the mikveh for women and the water spring attached to it. No less than twenty-four immersion pits will be in the mikvah, which will open this coming Lag B'Omer. Seventy-five dressing rooms, computer systems to be updated on-line which rooms are occupied and those evacuated, security guards working in concert with the New York Police Department to protect the structure from the problems of modesty, thus this women's mikveh will be the largest, most advanced and most luxurious in the world.

Since the springs cannot fulfill all the mikvehs, a special 'treasury' was built from where the spring water will come in from, and from there to all mikvehs. To ensure the treasury is clean of all slush or liquid that may invalidate it, several bottles of wine were poured into the initial water which completely changed color. Then emptied out the treasury, completely, and after a number of dismissals and washes and it turned out that the water is completely clear, the signal to fill it with water and make the launch twenty-four holes, making them kosher according to halacha.

After koshering, the Rebbe turned to philanthropists and they contributed towards the mikveh. Everyone donated not less than one hundred thousand dollars, with proceeds for the construction of the luxurious mikveh, which cost amounted to no less than 12 and a half million dollars.

At the lechaim which was basically the inauguration of the mikveh, the Ab"d of Satmar Williamsburg Hgr"m Teitelbaum, the Commissioner of the mikveh construction, spoke about all the halachic details. Later the Rebbe spoke, about the importance of purity.
