Gateshead: Protestors against Muslims violently hit avrechim
Two yeshiva students passed near a local demonstration against Muslims in Gateshead, were attacked by a group of youth who cursed their Judaism • Police rescued the victims and arrested the youth for questioning

Two yeshiva students who walked on Shabbos afternoon in downtown Gateshead were brutally attacked by eight young men, beating them vigorously.
The incident occurred when two yeshiva students strolled through the main street of the city, where at the time a local demonstration was being held against the phenomenon of the spread of Muslims in the region, due to the brutal murder of the 25-year-old soldier who served in the Royal Regiment last Wednesday.
The two passed near the site of the demonstration, and were attacked by a group of eight young people, who also voiced epithets against Jews, in front of hundreds of participants in the demonstration. One young man managed to escape when he bruised his head and called for help, but the other student was beaten until he lost consciousness.
Somebody had called the police, who arrived with reinforcements, and arrested some of the youth and the avrech - who had recovered. At the police station the avrech received first aid and was discharged. The demonstrators were detained for questioning.
