A cleaning woman employed in a Rabbi's home in Golders Green in London, admitted this week that she stole 6,500 pounds, and in order not to get caught by members of the household she left two small children alone in the home.

The cleaner has been employed in the home of a Rabbi in the neighborhood for several months. Last January she stole from a closet in his private room the amount of money that was supposed to reach the funds of the two major charities in Europe.

On the day of the theft she watching over two children in the family and at one point she told them that she is going to meet a friend.

After half an hour of leaving the house the 12 year old girl contacted her father who was traveling with his wife and young daughter from hospital after suffering from pneumonia. On the phone, the girl told her father that the maid disappeared.
When the rabbi returned home he found that the money was gone and quickly reported to the police.

For three weeks the London police were chasing the cleaning woman but she made it difficult for the police, as she blurred her trail, changed her phone number and severed all ties in working with the Haredi community in London.

The Shomrim are the ones who finally caught the cleaner and handed her over to the police.

The Rabbi himself said in a conversation with the media: "This is a stupid thing. This is a trauma for me and my family."

An indictment was filed against the employee and on July 5 a verdict will be given.
