This week a new king was crowned in Belgium - Philip, who will serve in place of his father Albert II. On the occasion of his coronation in all the synagogues in Antwerp a letter was published calling Gabaim and synagogue members to hold a special prayer and Mi Sheberach for the king.

This Sunday, Belgium's King Albert passed the throne to his son, Prince Philip, after less than 20 years on the throne. The King, 79, announced earlier this month that he feels too old to fulfill its duties. Prince Philip, who was crowned as the new king, is the father of four children and married to Princess Matilda. Crown Prince will be his eldest daughter, Elizabeth.
Published ad reads: "In honor of the coronation of King Philip almighty, gabaim are asked in all the synagogues and shuls in the city to say the prayer, "He who gives salvation to kings and government to princes, immediately after the reading of the Torah."

Detailed ad attached the prayer which says: "bless and keep our Lord save thy King Philip and Queen Matilda". Signed: community management.

It should be noted that in the community, Shomrei Hadas of Rabbi David Moshe Lieberman it is a common practices to say a prayer for the King of Belgium every Shabbos.
