Ben Gurion Airport: attempt to take weapons on flight was avoided • Watch

Vigilance and professionalism of the employees of the Defense Department's Ben Gurion Airport, prevented taking weapons on the flight: (Monday) at 11:30 during a security check of passenger (and body check in hand luggage) reflection of a cartridge, loaded with bullets was detected, concealed in a toy.

Once the passenger noticed the cartridge was located, he tried to escape and was arrested after a few minutes by guards. Traveler was to board a flight to Uzbekistan (Air Uzkistan 302 was supposed to take off from the airport at 14:00).

Initial interrogation of the passenger, 36-year-old Israeli citizen, a resident of the center, that he received the hand luggage from a female passenger (who he did not know) who asked him to take the baggage due to access weight. Due to the security incident flight passengers were delayed and a serious security incident handling began.

Zohar Gefen, manager of security at Ben Gurion explained the incident. Spokesman IAA

All passenger luggage in the hold and hand luggage were transferred to security check during which drugs and bullets which were hidden inside dolls and toys in the suitcase were located.

Security forces and the Israel Police were rushed to the scene. Plane and the passengers went through further testing and questioning. The event is not yet over. Suspects were transferred to Israeli police.
