Killed and two more wounded in a terrorist attack tonight (Sunday) in Denmark - unknown opened fire outside the central synagogue in the city center of Copenhagen, the capital of the state killing a 30-year-old Jewish synagogue who served as a security guard, while on duty securing an event in the synagogue. According to reports, shooting was carried out at a Bat Mitzvah ceremony in the synagogue.
Local television reported that the shooter hit one man in the head, and wounded two policemen. The incident took place just hours after the shooting at the cafe in the city. Next to the synagogue is located in a large train station, Norfort, was evacuated following the attack.
A few hours later, police reported that the suspect tried to flee to a nearby train station, after a short struggle he was shot dead. "We assume that the person is behind both events and we assume that the man who was assassinated by the police force at 'Norfort' is behind the two assassinations," said Police Commissioner Communications Turban Molgard.
Earlier on Saturday, three officers were shot and injured in a coffee shop in Copenhagen. 2 gunmen fired more than 40 rounds out of place and fled. French ambassador, who was present, was not injured. The event also attended the Swedish cartoonist Lars controversial Wilkes, in 2007, drew a picture of the Prophet Muhammad with dog clothing. Three policemen were injured and one killed.
Rabbi Yitzchok Lowenthal, Chabad's representative in Denmark, said after the attack at the cafe that "In the meantime, what we know, Israelis or Jews are not involved in the shooting incident. We increased the level of security alert regarding Jewish institutions in Denmark whether it's Chabad House, a synagogue and schools.
"There is a feeling of great concern in the community; however, we are not surprised. This is something we are willing to. It did not come as a surprise to us. We have a plan of action for such cases. I must say that all Jewish communities in Europe has an action plan which is primarily increased security presence".
Conference of European Rabbis angrily denounces the criminal attack on a synagogue in Denmark and welded condolences to family of slain security guard. "We welcome the authorities in Denmark for the quick response eliminating the hazard and demands to continue to strengthen and increase security for Jewish institutions in Europe.
"The Jews of Europe in a clamp that do not allow Jews live secure and peaceful continent, when we under attack from radical Islamic elements lurking us with the sword beside the fact that the authorities have passed laws against religious commandments existential straits our lives.
"The situation of Jews in Copenhagen accurately reflects the situation of the Jews on the European continent as a whole, when on the one; Islamic terrorism constitutes an existential threat to the community and on the other; the authorities have banned the ritual slaughter and standing ban circumcision team. This is an impossible situation raises many questions as to the attitude of the authorities to the Jews.
