Amazing: medical instruction of Rabbi Chaim Grenimann zt"l

Many got to know the wisdom of Rabbi Chaim Grenimann zt"l in medical matters, Behadrey Haredim learned of an amazing story that began a few months ago and its surprising conclusion takes place a few hours before the huge funeral procession which was held yesterday (Sunday) in Bnei Brak.

A woman whose husband is a dear avrech who does not belong at all to the community of Hagaon R' Chaim Grenimann, was in the middle months of pregnancy when doctors told her that the findings of tests indicate that there is a particular problem that needs urgent surgery to remove it from the fetus. She and her husband travelled all over the country to consult with the best doctors and specialists, but they all agreed, there is no escape from an emergency surgery to save the life of the fetus.

The husband's friend advised him to consult with Rabbi Haim Grenimann, "they say he understands in medicine," said the friend.

Feeling his bitter fate, the husband went to Bnei Brak and came to 8 Rav Assi Street equipped with innumerous documents and photographs, with the opinions of the scholars who ruled unanimously that one must operate and quickly as possible.

Rabbi Chaim looked at the medical documents and ruled briefly "do not operate and everything will be fine." The husband, astonished, returned to the doctors when they express their indignation and great concern for the anticipated danger to the fetus. "In any case," they said, "If you insist on not doing the surgery you will need to sign a form where you give up voluntarily."

The husband who, as stated, was not one of R' Chaim's community, was filled with fears and raised his deliberations to his Rav, a famous mashgiach in the yeshiva world. The mashgiach ruled held that he should not budge from what R' Chaim ruled. The avrech signed the form and the operation was not carried out.

But here comes the surprising part of the story. After a while it was time for the woman to give birth and for a completely different reason she had to give birth by C-section, the doctors sought to take advantage of the situation and said that if they are already doing surgery then at the same time the problem that still exists and endangering the fetus can be treated. The husband called R' Chaim and the Rav ordered again, "do not touch". Eventually the complication for which doctors thought to deliver by Caesarean section was settled, and the woman had a natural birth.

In tests carried out by doctors on the baby after birth they first saw immediately that the problem still exists and could endanger the baby in the near future and booked an appointment for the woman for further tests in a month and probably they would have to operate the baby G-d forbid. The date set for the check up was yesterday at eight in the morning.

On Saturday night when the woman heard the bad news of the demise of R' Chaim zt"l she went into great anxiety, what will she do in the morning when the doctors convince her again to operate on the baby, who will take on himself the fateful decision now?

The woman who could not sleep throughout the night came in yesterday morning in fear to the expert doctor's appointment. The doctor examined the baby and was amazed. "Everything is fine, the problem passed on its own, I do not know of anything like this, whoever instructed not to operate and took on this medical responsibility, is no less than a medical genius".
