Shabbos desecration at the Jerusalem Tachanah entertainment complex is on the rise.

Weitzman wrote in his motzei Shabbos letter: “This Shabbos, more jewelry, clothing and candy stores were open, despite prior promises. “

Speaking with Bechadrey Charedim, Weitzman said, “I went by the Tachanah complex on Shabbos afternoon. New entertainment places were open as well as new candy stores, a new coffee shop and a jewelry store.”

According to Weitzman, “It is sad to see the rising chillul Shabbat there. I call upon Mayor Nir Barkat to stop this blow to the status quo and to the Municipal bylaws. The charedi and religious members of the Council must unite and appeal to the Mayor with a demand that he prevent this desecration of holiness.”

Deputy Mayor Yitzchak Pindrus told Bechadrey on motzei Shabbos that, “It is quite
serious that they are deceiving us once again about the Tachanah complex. I plan to speak again tonight with the faction heads to see how best we can act.”
