Ukraine's state security services have been following the man since December when he tried to establish ties with Ukrainian troops. He had purchased five Kalashinkov semi- automatic rifles and two anti-tank rocket- propelled grenades. The 25 year old man was found near Ukraine's border with Poland with 5,000 bullets, 100 detonators and 275 lb of TNT as well as other weapons.

The suspect had far right ultra- nationalist views and was planning to attack places of worship such as synagogues and mosques as well as bridges, railways, highways and tax offices.

A SBU (Ukrainian special-purpose law-enforcement agency) spokesperson said, "The Frenchman spoke negatively about his government’s migration policies, the spread of Islam and globalization. He also said he wanted to perpetrate acts of terror in protest.”

The SBU also stated: “The SBU has succeeded in stopping 15 terrorist attacks that were planned in France just before and during the European football championship.”

The Euro 2016 football tournament is opening Friday. A number of governments including the American government are concerned about the tournament being a target of terror attacks. France will deploy 90,000 soldiers, police, and security guards for the football tournament, which opens on Friday.

It is thought that Slaeh Abdeslam who is currently awaiting trial in a French prison was planning to attack the tournament.
