In the Geula neighborhood of Jerusalem this morning (Thursday) a shocking accident took place: A man in his 50s, was injured by a bus on Brandeis Street corner of Malchei Yisrael Street and was severely injured. His leg was amputated and he was taken to the hospital.
Hatzalah volunteer medics gave him primary health care, and he was evacuated in serious condition to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in the capital.
Chezi Roth, a Hatzalah medic who works near the location of the incident and treated the wounded man, said, "The injury was caused by a private bus transportation company from Beit Shemesh to Jerusalem. The man got off the bus and he was in the middle of taking the stroller out of the trunk, but the driver for some reason began to drive, as a result the man's leg was amputated. We gave him primary health care, and he was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Zachi Heller, Mada spokesman, told B'Chadrei Charedim: "We received a report this morning on an accident on Brandeis Street in Jerusalem. Paramedics whoa arrived at the scene offered primary health care to the man who was injured by the bus, and he was evacuated to hospital in moderate condition, with serious injuries to his lower limbs, to Hadassah Ein Kerem.
Etty Dvir, Spokesman for Haddasah Ein Kerem hospital, said that at 9:00 the patient was taken into surgery, and his situation is considered severe but stable.
At 16:40 it was reported by the hospital that the patient had come out of surgery, and that the doctors had managed to save the man's life and his situation is not life threatening anymore. However, due to the serious injury, they were unable to save the patients leg. His situation is stable, he is fully conscious, and he is surrounded by his family members.
