The fraud department of the Jerusalem police arrested yesterday (Wednesday), a psychiatrist, in her 50s, from the Beit Hakerem neighborhood in the capital.

It is suspected, that the doctor issued medical documents for yeshiva students, including recommendations that they are not eligible for military service.
B'Chadrei Charedim learned, that yesterday yeshiva students were summoned by phone for investigation at the Jerusalem Police station, but declined to give them details about the investigation.

The investigated all have a common denominator: they all visited the psychiatrist and received her letter recommending the army to issue them exemption from military service.
The police investigation began after 'Hamakor' program on Channel 10 sent two young haredim to the psychiatrist equipped with a hidden camera.

After telling her that they seek the exemption, they paid her 600 shekels - and received the coveted letter in less than 20 minutes.
So far 27 orthodox students have been questioned after the army passed their review on them to the police. The investigation shows that there are many more who have received recommendations from her - and the investigation continues.

Shmulik Ben Ruby, Jerusalem police spokesman, confirmed the details, adding that the doctor has been released under restrictive conditions and guarantees.
At the same time, another case has branched: Orthodox men who have issued an exemption due to ill mental health- Some of who are journalists and academics - recently received invitations from the army, who exposed the fraud. The army also threatened to open legal proceedings against the suspects, due to fraud.
Attorney Sharon Goshen, representing one of the yeshiva students, told B'Chadrei Charedim that the offense is "fraud which is punishable by three to five years, and is defined according to law as offense. Obsolescence is only after 10 years. "

Goshen also says that if the IDF begins to summon haredim who were not recruited due to ill mental health, it is in order to recruit them to the service, there will be many who would be happy.

"Bnei Torah with families, who want to attend academic studies and government jobs, encounter difficulties and refusals to be accepted to military service. This is following their mental fissure defined at 18, during their primary summons."
