After forty years it happened: The Rabbi Brothers - Rabbi Avraham Yaffa Schlesinger one of the Geneva rabbis, and Rabbi Shmuel Akiva Schlesinger a rabbi in Strasbourg, spoke tonight between them.
The two sons of Rabbi Mordechai Yaffe Schlesinger zt"l - a member of the Council of Torah Sages, lost touch with each other, following a competition between their communities.
Hgra"i Schlesinger is Av Beit Din of the religious community in Geneva, Switzerland and Hgrs"a Schlesinger the Rabbi of Etz Chaim in Strasbourg in neighboring France.
Now, the brothers come together on the marriage of Hgra"I's youngest son.
Associate of Hgra"i Schlesinger Rabbi Abba Tortzki who serves as CEO of the 'Bezel Chochma' institutions in Jerusalem says to B'Chadrei Charedim: "Orthodox Strasbourg Communities and Orthodox Geneva community led by the brothers have now come to understandings and share common ground. How good it is when siblings are together."
The peak will come: on Wednesday next week, when Hgra"i Schlesinger will marry off his youngest son, Betzalel, a student at the Chevron Givat Mordechei yeshiva, in London, and Hgrs"a Schlesinger will be the mesader kidushin.
