Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer Hagon R' Shalom Meir Yungerman zt"l - Rosh Yeshiva of Zichron Michael, and Torah Institutions in Zichron Yaakov, passed away at the age of 72.

He was born in Romania on 8th Adar in 5700 to his father Harav Yechiel Michel Yungerman zt"l and his mother Mrs. Shoshana Razza a"h.

When young, he studied at Slabodka, where he was a favorite student of the Rosh Yeshiva Hagaon R' Mordechai Shulman zt"l.

After graduating he married his wife, Mrs. Tziporah a"h, daughter of the late Harav Gavriel Riklis z"l, who died six months ago. His wife the Rebbetzin was known as a woman of kindness and righteousness who always sought to benefit others, stood with great devotion to her husband's side so that he could pursue his studies undisturbed and prepare his lessons known for their clarity.

Hgrs"m Yungerman zt"l established the Torah institutions in Zichron Yaakov which started off as a Kollel, nearly forty years ago.

He then built the Chazon Ish suburb and Chafetz Chaim suburb in the city.

When he founded the Chazon Ish suburb, he only had a Kollel of avreichim who arrived from Haifa and Bnei Brak, but when he heard that the Ministry of Housing is offering land for sale he offered of a large sum without knowing how to pay it, he won the tender, and that night a generous donor from the U.S. phoned him and paid him the entire sum.

Apart from the Yeshiva in Zichron Yaakov which has been there for 22 years, he also established many Kollelim designated for Ba'alei Tshuva, under the presidency of R' Chaim Greenman, including in Tel Aviv and Binyamina.

The Rosh Yeshiva wrote the popular book series'Kovetz Shitos Kamai', on the Shas, and 'Avodas Hakodesh' on the Rashba. He received the haskoma of Hgram"m Shach zt"l. Harav Schach even said about him before the establishment of Degel HaTorah: "You have to be representative of the Bnei Torah in the Knesset, you are a Talmid Chacham and all of you are leshem shomayim and have a rare siata dishmaya.

He learned b'chavruta almost every day with the Slabodka Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon R' Dov Landau from 11:00pm until 2:00 at night.
He conducted an institute for the publication of books of the Rishonim, where he published the Rashba, Ramban, Ritva and HaMeiri.

He headed an organization for Ba'alei Tshuva and avreichim from his Kollelim learned together with Jews who are not observant.

He always said his model was to be the Rav of Ponevezh and always said: "I know I will not be, but I aspire to." In his home he hung a picture of the Rav of Ponevezh.

When the Yad Avraham fund was established in the Ten Days of Repentance in 5764, he went to England with yibadel lechaim tovim, R' Aharon Leib Steinman, Hgr"d Landau and Hagaon R' Yaakov Hillel for a fundraising campaign for the foundation,

During a dinner held at the place, Hagr"d Landau was asked to speak, and he suggested Harav Yungerman who began to speak in tears and said that the situation of yeshiva students in Israel is like a Sefer Torah that had fallen on the floor. The gvirim who were there burst out crying.

He built the Beis Midrash Darkei Ish – graduates of Slabodka yeshiva, on Admor Migur street in Bnei Brak and took care of the Beis Midrash from start to finish.

He is survived by a dor yeshorim mevorach: His sons, Harav Mordechai, Harav Aharon Menachem, Harav Avraham Yeshayahu who heads the Kollelim, Harav David Yedidya, Harav Dov Yitzchak, and Harav Shlomo Zalman,

His sons-in-law: Harav Hagaon R' Shmuel Honigsberg. author of Biur Sugyot, and R"M at Yeshivas Slabodka. Harav Yehoshua Menachem Zeleznik, and Harav Nathanel Gross.

His levaya will leave tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:00 am from the hall of his yeshiva 'Zichron Michael', Zichron Yaakov and at 12:30pm from his house on 18 Rabi Chiya street in Bnei Brak to the Shomrei Shabbos cemetery, Zichron Meir.

May his soul be cherished in the bundle of life.
