Six years and 4 million shekels • Sefer Torah of Seret Vizhnitz

Seret Vizhnitz chassidim in Haifa will place a Sefer Torah in the merit of the Rebbe. This is a rare event in the Seret Vizhnitz court since it has been fifty years since the Rebbe placed a new Sefer Torah.


The initiative began 6 years ago, when the chassidim celebrated fifty years since the establishment of Shikum Seret Vizhnitz in Haifa, a dignified event which was held at the Exhibition Grounds, where, at the end of the event, the initiative began to write a Sefer Torah which the Rebbe will bring in.


Each year, Seret Vizhnitz carry out a campaign for institutions on that occasion it was declared that each person who contributes to the institutions will be a partner in the Sefer Torah, and the greater the contribution – the part of the chassid in the Sefer Torah is greater.

For example, whoever contributed 50 thousand shekels per year – his name will be engraved on the 'trees of life', whoever contributed 25 thousand sheksls per year his name will be signed on the coat, whoever contributed 12 thousand shekels his name will be mentioned on the pages. In addition, the Sefer Torah was photographed into a special book, where at the bottom it was written who bought which page.


Total contributions for the Torah for six years are about 4 million - dedicated for Hasidic institutions, when every week a new banner was hung in the Beit Midrash with updated names of the donors.

Last Motzei Shabbos a letter writing event was held for those who took part in the Sefer Torah. Whoever contributed over 50 thousand shekels – will write the letters with the Rebbe on the day of the Hachnasas Sefer Torah.


The event will be held on Sunday 7th Adar in the Beit Midrash in Haifa. The Seudat Mitzvah will be at the Congress Center in the city.
