Satmar in no hurry to support protest of Admorim

Satmar is in no hurry to support the protest of Rebbes in the United States - and conditions its joining with five requirements: last night (Sunday), the journey chairman, Chanoch Zeibert, of Gur, approached the gabbai of the Satmar Rebbe and asked that the Hassidus, which has great power in States, will join the main protest rally to be held by the Rebbes. In response, the support was conditional on five requirements.

Behadrey Haredim leaned that those requirements are: 1. No Hareidi Member of Knesset, in the past or present, shall speak. 2. All speaches will be in Yiddish only, except for one which will be in English. 3. All speakers will engage in the issue of recruitment and not request a donation. 4. The assembly did not take place under the name of the Council of Torah Sages or of Agudath Israel. 5. One rabbi, a Rabbinical Association member, will speak.

The organizers of the trip have not yet responded to the demands of Satmar. The requirements will be brought to the Rebbes, and they will decide whether to accede to them.

It should be noted that the Belzer Rebbe is constantly working towards expanding the support for the campaign: he is acting against the home Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman, while also against Rebbes in Israel who are not members of the Agudath Israel. The aspiration of the Belzer Rebbe is that the journey will have the broadest consensus possible. Perhaps because of this desire, he will make an effort to achieve consensus for Satmar's requirements.
