Yeshiva student stabbed in Kiev • "There is chaos here"

Again a severe case of anti- Semitism in Kiev: a yeshiva student was stabbed on Friday night in Kiev, one of the stabbers was captured.

After the seudah on Friday night in a synagogue in Podol neighborhood, a yeshiva boy walked to his home, located a few blocks away.

On his way four young men pounced on him and beat him up. Their shoes were equipped with pokers and they stabbed them. According to the testimony of the yeshiva student they did not call anything abusive towards him.

The boy called for help, the gang fled and the bleeding boy fled to the synagogue and went to the mikveh where he collapsed.

The shull's security guard called an ambulance which took him to the hospital, where a main artery rupture was diagnosed and he underwent emergency surgery in the leg for an hour and a half.

Following the case, the Jewish community demands close guarding of synagogues, and an immediate investigation of the police.

Yaakov Zilberman, one of the Jewish community leaders in Kiev, says to Behadrey Haredim: "There is a certain chaos here because of the demonstrations for the replacement of power. Some people allow themselves to take the law into their own hands. One of the men who stabbed was caught and it was found that he has been following Jews who go to shull for a long time. This case is pure anti-Semitism."

Rabbi Moshe Reuven Asman, a Rabbi of Kiev, came to the hospital on Saturday night, to visit the youngster. Tomorrow the Jewish community will hold a press conference to condemn the incident, which is the second in a series, after a few days ago a Jewish teacher who works there, was attacked.
