Rabbi of Geneva, Hgra"y Schlesinger attacked MK Uri Maklev and Chief Rabbi Hgr"d Lau, who participated in the Bar Mitzvah held at the Knesset for Heidi Mozes's son. It is important to note that the event was held for dozens of welfare children – with participation of MK Maklev and the Chief Rabbi.
The words were said at a Sheva Brachos held for the son of Reb Yitzchak Shapiro from London, son of Avraham (Munia) Shapiro z"l, held on Sunday at the City Tower Hall in Ramat Gan.
Rabbi Schlesinger explained in his words that he has nothing against the MK, but the Bar Mitzvah was completely according to reform standards.
I heard about one of the MK's, there is no loshon hora here because everyone knows about it, who held a Bar Mitzvah for her son at the age of 12, this is completely uprooting religion.
She held it at the Knesset, government officials participated, I am not afraid of anyone. The new Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi participated, and then he will tell me what is kosher and what is not.
A Degel Hatorah MK also participated. What was he looking for there? This is a Bar Mitzvah? She held a Bat Mitzvah for a 12 year old boy, this is something against the Torah, there is no way one can participate.
I never stood foot at any place that a reform Rabbi participated, and I am not that extreme.
If I were Hgray"l Steinman, I would eliminate him from the Knesset for participating at a Bar Mitzvah for a 12 year old.
By Rabbi Munia Shapiro z"l this would never had happened. He was far away from this, and therefore his children continue in his footsteps.
