The attack at the Jewish Museum in Brussels: A day after the murder, in which Emanuel and Mira Rivah from Tel Aviv and a Belgian citizen were killed, and another person was critically injured, it turns out that a Jewish employee of the museum, miraculously survived and did not come to her post.

R.H., a Jewish resident of Brussels who works at the museum, could not get last night (Saturday) to work, and the employee who was murdered is another Jewess who came to live in the city just two months ago.

Journalist Eliyahu Eliowitz from the Roternik press group spoke with R.H. about the tragedy. He told Behadrey Haredim that Mrs. R.H. volunteers each week at the museum, "She says that she's 72 and a regular participant in community events although she is not from a religious home. She began volunteering 4 years ago at the Museum twice a week. Over the past month she was not feeling well, and began to arrive only once a week at the museum."

She also says that "On Thursday, two days before the event, I told the museum that I would not be able to get there on Saturday because I did not feel well. Consequently Dominic Shavriel, 69, who came two weeks earlier from France, switched with me. At the shooting incident she was killed unfortunately. I'm so apologetic about the event that was, I feel that G-d protected me to be saved, it hurts me so much. I 'm going to demonstrate in front of the museum to light a candle in memory of those killed."

Inna Van Veimers, Belgian Prosecution representative, said that the investigators have not yet determined what the motive for the shooting was, but she says it carries overtones of anti-Semitic attacks. "No one has accepted responsibility for the attack, and all options are open," she said. She added that the suspect "apparently acted alone, was armed and well prepared." Last night police arrested one suspect, but he was released soon, and now he serves as a witness to the events.

Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo, called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu today, and updated him with details of the investigation of the attack at the museum. French interior minister, Bernard Casanov, added that he ordered to tighten security around Jewish institutions in the country.

A number of Jewish organizations operating under the umbrella organization CCOJB in Belgium, are holding a demonstration at 19:00pm (local time) at the Jewish Museum in memory of the victims and prayers for the injured, as reported in the Roternik press.
