Harav Michael Lasri and Rabbanit Amalya lost their son on Yom Tov after he nearly drowned Friday. They spoke with great strength and Emunah about their loss and pain- and preservation.
Harav Lasri: "We said many times that one has to know how to take everything that comes his way in life. If you take it as Hashem commanded us to- then everything looks different. People have told me how they learned and prayed all night for the refuah of Shimon Yochai- so how could it be that his soul departed on Motzaei Chag? I told them Rabosai- nothing is for naught. Everything you did was preparation.
What is Shavuos? It is written in Kabalah that the night of Shavuos is preparation for the adornments of the bride so that there should be a union on Shavuos at the time of Musaf. This is the most important time of theyear- more so than Neilah on Yom Kippur. And specifically at the time of Musaf of Shavuos, after all the spiritual preparation everyone did for the zechus of Shimon Yochai- they prepared my son for the true chuppah. What is Olam Hazeh? It is a mirage as it says,"Hayeinu kcholimim, az yemalei tzchol pinu…" People will wake up and laugh over the silly things they occupied themselves with in this world.
The true wedding is in heaven. The true wedding is when Hashem Himslef brings us to the chuppah. When Hashem takes a korban it is not like us – who only after the slaughter can check if the organs have a blemish. Hashem can see the heart- He chose an unblemished korban. And He waited until the loftiest time of the year- Musaf of Shavuos .What is left to us is to strengthen ourselves so that we will be able to understand what Hashem is saying to us.
There is a language via which Hashem speaks to us. It is called "strengthen yourself". There is a lack now that Shimon Yochai z"l is no longer here with us and we will complete that lack by continuing to sanctify the name of Hashem…"
