Hashim Nzinga, chairman of the New Black Panther party told Reuters, "If it [Ohio]is an open state to carry, we will exercise our Second Amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us."

The Southern Poverty Law Center designates the New Black Panthers as a hate group.
Cleveland police are preparing for mass demonstrations, and word of a group of armed New Black Panthers would complicate preparations.

Reuters learned that Ohio's "open carry" law allows civilians to carry guns in public. Permits are needed for concealed handguns, but not for openly displayed guns.
Stephen Loomis, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's association said in a New York Times interview," The last thing in the world we need is anybody walking around here with AR-15's strapped to their back."

The Southern Poverty Law center has called the New Black Panther Party," a virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers."

That being said, the New Black Panther Party chairman Hashim Nzinga condemns the Dallas shootings in which 5 policemen were killed and 12 injured.
