Finally In Ramat Shlomo: Hundreds Of New Apartments Approved For Construction In Yerushalayim

Despite president Trump’s upcoming visit to Israel, Yerushalayim’s ‘Local planning and building committee’ approved hundreds of new apartments for construction in Ramat Shlomo and Pisgat Ze’ev. Although there aren’t any celebrations going on, it seems that the building freeze has finally come to an end.
The official policy over constru
ction in Yerushalayim is not very clear. In the past, various building projects were either postponed or totally shelved after they were ceremoniously announced. It seems as though it all depends on the prevailing atmosphere of the international community; and when international eyes are preoccupied and look elsewhere, new building projects are approved.
Speaking to Noam Zigman of ‘Kol Barama’ radio - this morning, Chairman of the ‘Local planning and building committee’ of Yerushalayim Meir Turgeman, remarked, “yes, apartments were approved in Ramat Shlomo and Pisgat Ze’ev. Why is noise and bells necessary? I always claimed that construction in Yerushalayim is not an issue. Yerushalayim is not over the green line, Ramat Shlomo, Gilo. I am glad we reached the point where it’s not necessary to make noise about it”
Turgeman specified, “We approved yesterday 212 units,122 of them in Ramat Shlomo, and the rest in Pisgat Ze’ev. In about a month permits will be given and construction can start”.
Turgeman added that “construction has already begun in all of the permits which I have handed out in the past. In Gilo, Ramat Shlomo, we are not waiting, we are building Yerushalayim diligently.
He was also asked if the approval can be withdrawn after it has already been issued. “There is no way to stop it, we have a consensus with the government on this topic, everything is being done in an organized and lawful manor” he explained.
Commenting about the post Obama era he said: “Didn’t you hear that there is a new president in the Unites states and positive winds are blowing towards Israel. Unequivocally, I also feel it in Yerushalayim”.
When asked about the Americans moving the embassy to Yerushalayim Turgeman replied, “I don’t know. There is a place in south Yerushalayim that the Americans are preparing, fit for an embassy and diplomatic quarters. More than this I don’t know any details on the topic”.
