Mourning in the Torah and Mussar world: the Magid Hagaon Hatzadik R' Shlomo Leib Brevda, passed away in the U.S.

He was one of the prominent Ba'alei Mussar in the last generation, and passed away after a long illness at the age of 81.

His family and many talmidim davened for his recovery and pleaded for mercy, but tonight, American time, he returned his soul to its Creator.

Hagr"s zt"l moved to Israel at age 17 and studied by the Brisker Rav and the Chazon Ish zt"l.

He acquired Toras Hammusar from the Ponevez Mashgiach, Hagaon R' Yechezkel Lewenstein zt"l – who drove him to strengthen the teaching of Mussar.

In 5723 he authored the book 'Amala shel Torah', at the request of the 'Kehillos Yaakov' and Hgram"m Shach zt"l, asking him to strengthen the Bnei Yeshivos to continue studying Torah.

Has also authored a commentary on the Shir Hashirim, 4 volumes on Biur Hagr"a, and "Kiymu Ve'kiblu', on issues of Purim, 'Yibane Hamikdos', 'Tefillas Chanah','Lehodos U'lehalel' on Hanukkah, and commentary on the Haggadah shel Pesach.

During his stay in the country he would give Mussar talks in Torah places and yeshivos, which would attract thousands.

He is survived by his wife and three sons. His sons-in-law: Harav Altosky and Harav Asher Druk.

His coffin will be flown to Israel and his funeral will leave tonight in Jerusalem.

May his soul be cherished in the bundle of life.
